End of Road Rally March 13/14
VENUE
We try to rotate around four sites (Stony Bay, Fletchers Bay and 2 others as nominated by members). However, with no other suitable places lined up, we are heading back to Fletchers Bay, Coromandel Penninsula after only 3 years. Just as well it’s a good’un!
It’s a bloody amazing venue, under Pohutakawa trees and right at the water. This is an official DOC camp, which means we are sharing with the public, so please be considerate.
TO TAKE
The usual stuff for this annual rally applies, take everything you might need - tent, sleeping gear, toilet paper, liquid refreshments, food (eating’s cheating), partner and motorcycle. There is a toilet there and fresh water. We may be able to light a fire, and there will be a hotplate there for cooking.
You may want to bring a cooker as a back up. It is a long way to a shop which is just the way we like it! There are no rubbish bins, so you’ll need to take your rubbish home with you.
DIRECTIONS
It’s on the North Eastern tip of the Penninsula, about 3 hours or so from Hamilton, great winding sealed roads to Colville, and a half hour or so of gravel to the campsite. Check your map. Make sure your tires have reasonable tread, and bring a puncture repair kit.
DEPARTURE
There will be a group leaving the club rooms 10am Saturday morning. Of course you are welcome to make your own way there at your own time and pace.
BADGE/COST
For our second decade a new badge is being struck. Unfortunately they wont be ready in time so I will have to post them later.
There will be 25 for each of the next 10 years, so first 25 in will get one, for that reason they will be limited to one per bike until Sunday AM.
We also have to pay DOC per head of who turns up, so the cost this year will be $20 for the rider, and $10 for the pillion. (+ $5 for badge if there are any left.
